UX designer tips for designing an awesome landing page

Gone are the days of static websites and even the rest like the carousels, and the ones with hamburger menus. Though, all these seemed to impress and weave magic in the minds of people in the early days of web or maybe until a decade or so back, it was not until recently that people actually started realizing and differentiating between things that they need and need not.

Landing pages are the soul of any website design. Poorly designed landing pages are equal to grossing zero business. So, when you land up yourself on a landing page through an impressive ad, just to find yourself in an annoying place, how would you react? To be honest, you would never return. You would leave the page as soon as you can and then, find business elsewhere.

Are there any parameters on which you can align your landing page? Of course, there are:

Provide the promises you made. (Since, this is the reason why they are here. Why annoy them?)

Why should you care about user experience?

Weird question! You are doing business for your people, so if you do not provide them with a great user experience, how do you expect them to convert them into sales.

So, designing must be always intended and aimed at your people.

As a designer, everything starts at you and ends at you. It’s in your hands to take your people to the product. And, the experience that you provide them with while on their journey is something that matters. Their level of comfort, the interaction level, the ease of communication, problem solving efficiency and above all whether the product satisfies their needs, marks your success.

And, the exciting part is that all this has happen within a short span of time of just 50 milliseconds that you have. This is where you can utilize your skills and talent and design a great landing page that people can relate to.

What kind of a landing page are your people expecting? No one knows exactly, but in a generic sense you could incorporate some of the above listed items to design an interesting landing page:

  • Leads capture form that is clean, clear, and precise, and above all is secure.
  • Eliminate distraction (e.g., navigation elements, etc.)
  • Include enticing offers and compelling promises that actually are true.(A CTA that would not fail their hopes.)
  • Finally, timely response and completion of tasks without no time or effort wasted on waiting.

Where to Start with a Fixer-Upper

Here’s a handy list of initial steps to ensure that your DIY approach to home-ownership is a success.

Get Familiar With Work Permits

Fees and requirements vary, but chances are, you’ll need to contact your municipality about getting a work permit for your fixer-upper. Every municipality has its own rules about what requires a permit. Generally, you’ll need a permit for larger projects like replacing siding or a load-bearing walls. Smaller projects, such as painting or updating flooring, usually don’t require municipal permission. In general, though, it’s a good idea to check with the city or a local contractor that will be familiar with the rules before you embark on a major project. Skipping the permit can lead to fines or even impede any loan you’ve taken out to pay for renovations.

Take a Foundational Approach

The largest, potentially most-expensive project is right under your feet: the foundation. To give your foundation a check-up, survey the inside and outside of your house. There’s only one thing about renovations that you can count on: a constant stream of surprises. You can protect yourself from a few of them by getting quotes and timelines from several contractors. Enjoy the Process

Living in a fixer-upper is completely different from living in a new (or even gently used) home. Construction projects and remodeling might make half your home uninhabitable for months at a time. Your bathroom might smell like new paint for a while. But if you give yourself over to the process of remaking your home, incorporating smaller projects into your daily life, inhabiting a fixer-upper can be fun. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and your two-bedroom Colonial won’t be, either. So instead of focusing only on the finished product, embrace the state of change.

Tips on Resolving Creative Conflicts for Website Designers

Creativity is a subjective domain. An idea that may seem creative to someone may not seem as exciting to others. This becomes all the more pronounced in a corporate environment when ideas are being brainstormed for a creative output. Disagreements are rampant leading to the ruffling of egos ultimately resulting in the main idea being lost. Take a look at some of the ways in which you can tackle these tricky situations and resolve the creative conflicts.

1. Fonts
One of the most important things to consider when designing a site is the font that you are going to use across it. But, it is a huge success. People are freaking about Facebook and you can see they are active and online almost the entire time trying to get their heads on news and updates from around the world.

3. Color of your font
Like we discussed the size of your font, the color of your font is something that again matters.

There are sites that you might have seen use all those flashy colors and annoy visitors.

Imagine landing up on a site that has blue color in the background with yellow font.

Weird! Who will want to read the content on such a site? No one! Period!

So, no one will visit your site that has issues with the color in the background and the font.

You could follow a typical and general style that people like.

4. Social media
The whole world is going live over the social media. Are you there?

If not, it is high time you considered reaching out and connecting with your group of people over these online medias.

You will get to know more about what they think and how they want things to be.

People are active over all these medias.

Be open to talks. If you are ready to listen you can learn lot and hence, improvise your work and provide your people with what they actually need rather than providing them with something that they are not expecting.

5. Be Open to Ideas
The foremost thing that you should be able to work yourself into practicing is to be open to ideas. Discussions are not meant to castigate you on a personal level. A healthy interaction is always the best way to work towards a successful collaboration.

6. Do Not Respond, Listen
Once you have reconciled with your own emotions, listen to what others have to say. Good listening is a quality that few people possess. It is an art, which, if you are able to master, can help you win major battles. When you listen intently, without thinking of your responses, then you will be able to get the whole story of what others are trying to communicate.

7. Organize Your Thoughts
Now that you know what others have to say, you can organize your own thoughts to proposition your idea in the best possible way. Since you have been listening intently and have kept yourself open to new ideas, you can put forward your opinions and thoughts to use the best idea that would help further to achieve the business goals of the organization.
